Museum Piece Navajo

Encaustic w/embedded photo, venetian plaster, on wood w/gold foil, 8” x 13”, 2018

The central image of this piece is a famous photograph found in the New Mexico Historical Museum. It is breathtakingly heartwarming. It was embedded and encased in hot wax. The upper half is encaustic over venetian plaster. Gold foil creates the center band and the piece is surrounded with found and weathered wood.
