Piano Piece Symphony

This assemblage was made from a section of an antique piano I found at a yard sale in Thomaston Maine. The image of the two dancing figures was a favorite treasure that I picked up at the Bonnard Museum in Spain.

The jester theme jumps out at me. It was a fun piece to make and it sold to a very enthusiastic patron who is a musician.

The dimensionality of 3-D art, in Otty’s assemblages, incorporate pieces of old wood, found objects and sometimes photographs. The various themes range from a moment of humor as in the Cupie Doll piece to a rather solemn captured moment in time as in the Pennsylvania Backyard Moment. Encaustic wax is used at times to preserve the piece from light damage. Finding the elements in junk shops, abandoned jewelry drawers and along the shore makes this art form especially fun.
